The wait for GM owners eagerly looking forward to accessing Tesla Superchargers might soon be over. Reports from several sources on Facebook and gm-trucks.com indicate that the official CCS to NACS adapter is now available to order from GM dealerships. While not yet officially announced, this strongly suggests that GM EVs will soon have access to the Supercharger network.
Interestingly, GM is the first automaker to charge a fee for the adapter. Nonetheless, at only $25 excluding taxes, it remains a great deal. Those who have already placed their orders have reported a fairly smooth process, with GM EV owners needing to contact their local dealership, provide their vehicle’s VIN, and place their order.
It’s important to note that the adapters are not currently in stock, and it appears that delivery will be handled on a first-come, first-served basis. If anyone wishes to order their adapter, they can do so starting today. Users on X (formerly Twitter) have suggested that if a GM EV owner encounters any issues at the dealership when ordering, they should provide the part number 85090442 to clarify any confusion.
While this isn’t a major development just yet, it’s certainly an exciting step forward for GM EV owners and continues the shift from CCS to NACS for EVs across North America.
