Many Tesla owners are excited about the gradual rollout of the much-anticipated “Spring Update,” also known as V12, to their vehicles. Announced on April 16, this Spring Software Update introduces a range of significant new features and improvements. For those who may be unaware of this update, it brings a full-screen 3D interface to the Model 3 and Model Y, similar to the Cybertruck’s UI, but only for models equipped with the AMD Ryzen chipset. Additionally, the update includes the Audible app and enhancements to Spotify featuring a Queue function and playback speed adjustments.

Model S and X vehicles also benefit from this update, with enhancements to regenerative braking, the addition of hands-free trunk opening, and improved Auto Shift functionality. Sentry Mode now allows remote viewing of clips on phones, and rear passenger screens are updated with more detailed trip information.

These substantial improvements have generated considerable excitement and discussion within the Tesla community. However, many users currently utilizing Full Self-Driving (FSD) have faced longer wait times for this update compared to other Tesla owners. Due to unexplained technical reasons, deploying the Spring Software Update has been more challenging for FSD customers, leaving many stuck on software versions 2024.8.9 and 2024.3.25.

Fortunately, Tesla has started pushing out software version 2024.15.5 to employees. It has been confirmed that this update, once released to the general public, will finally provide users stuck on 2024.8.9 and 2024.3.25 with the new Spring Update. Additionally, this update will include FSD V12.4.1, which promises substantial improvements to driving smoothness overall compared to FSD V12.3.6.
