After an eagerly anticipated wait that spanned a couple of years, Chevy has finally disclosed the final pricing and specifications for the consumer version of the Silverado EV, particularly the Chevy Silverado EV RST model, revealing a couple of unexpected enhancements.

To begin with, Chevy has revised the range estimate, now featuring an impressive 440 miles of EPA-rated range, marking a significant bump from the initial 400-mile rating. This positions the Chevy Silverado EV RST as the electric truck with the highest range currently on the market. The achievement of a 440-mile range is largely credited to the inclusion of an exceptionally large 200kWh battery pack.
Regarding battery capacity, it’s worth noting that the Chevy Silverado EV RST supports charging rates as high as 350kW. However, it’s been reported by Out of Spec Studios that charging speeds have reached approximately 370kW in their tests.

In a highly unexpected move, Chevrolet has slashed the price of the Silverado EV RST to $94,500 from its initially stated $105,000. While some may argue that this price adjustment expands the truck’s appeal to a broader consumer base, it’s important to point out that $94,500 remains a hefty amount of money, meaning the vehicle isn’t exactly “affordable.” Nonetheless, a price reduction can’t be seen as anything but a positive devlopement.

The Silverado EV RST comes outfitted with dual motors, all-wheel drive, and a power output of 754 horsepower and 785 lb-ft of torque. When it comes to towing capabilities, the Silverado EV RST holds its own with the ability to tow up to 10,000 pounds and carry a payload of up to 1,300 lbs. By comparison, the Cybertruck has a towing capacity of 11,000 lbs and a payload capacity of up to 2,500 lbs. While not the top of its class, the Silverado’s towing capacity is certainly commendable.

Additional highlights of the truck include a 17-inch infotainment screen equipped with Android Automotive. Unfortunately, Chevy has chosen to exclude Apple CarPlay and Android Auto from their latest vehicles. The vehicle also comes equipped with Chevy’s Super Cruise driver assistance software, a sizeable frunk, and the Chevy’s so-called Multi-Flex Midgate feature, which allows the truck bed to extend into the cabin by lowering the midgate, effectively enlarging the bed length to over 9 feet, or 11 feet with the tailgate lowered.

This electric truck offering from Chevy is quite compelling, especially to those who were contemplating a Cybertruck, given its comparable price point and arguably superior suite of features. But, ultimately, the choice comes down to personal preference.
Chevy has stated that the Silverado EV RST deliveries are scheduled to begin “by mid-year,” with shipments of lower trims to follow at a later, yet-to-be-announced date.
