Just a few short days ago, users of the Tesla Supercharger network received some exciting news! Tesla has officially begun the process of bringing a massive new 200-stall Supercharger in Yeehaw Junction, Florida! Yes, you read that right, 200 stalls! Better yet, these will be V4 Superchargers, as confirmed by the official building permits. These V4 Superchargers have a couple major improvements compared to their V3 counterpart, such as much longer cables for improved compatibility with non-Tesla EVs, and the inclusion of built-in CCS adapters for native compatibility with CCS equiped vehicles.
But unfortunately, there’s a major likelihood that Tesla will use V4 dispensers with older V3 cabinets, limiting the stalls to 250kW instead of the full 350kW capability of true V4 Superchargers, which has been the case for the very few “V4” Superchargers in the United States thus far.
Nevertheless, the fact that Florida is getting the world’s largest Supercharger station is incredibly exciting!
The site will be located on Exit 193 of the Florida Turnpike, and this “Mega Site” couldn’t have a better location. This is where most of the major highways and interstates in Florida intersect. Even more exciting is the fact this site will boast 8 trailer-friendly stalls, catering to Cybetrucks, F-150s, and Rivians towing through the state. While that may not sound like a lot, that’s quite a big increase of towing friendly spots compared to most Tesla Superchargers across the US, which tend to have absolutely none or maybe one towing friendly spot available.
While we don’t know exactly when Tesla will begin construction on this massive Supercharger, this move once again highlights Tesla’s commitment to expanding the Supercharger network exponentially, especially with the rise of other electric vehicles gaining access to the their network. It’s a significant push forward for EV charging infrastructure in the US, and we’re very excited for more of these “Mega Site” Superchargers to start appearing across the country!
