As many know, the Tesla Model 3 recently received a significant refresh, introducing a completely redesigned front and a revamped interior. This new makeover has generally been received well, though opinions vary with some finding the previous Model 3 design more appealing.

Regardless, a noticeable gap in the lineup became apparent in January when the refreshed Model 3 was put up for sale, with the absence of the Performance trim taking many by surprise. But finally, the reason behind this omission has now been discovered. Following numerous rumors, it’s confirmed that Tesla plans to introduce a special “Ludicrous” edition of the Model 3, taking over the slot of the previous Performance trim. While details on the specifications are still mostly under wraps, we’ve gotten a glimpse of what to expect from this vehicle. It was seen on April 1st at a Tesla Showroom in Malibu, California, in a seemingly secretive event that had taken place, attended by well-known YouTubers and social media figures.

The event, intended to be private, has been revealed to the public through videos shared by a user named @BooDev on X, showcasing the Model 3 Ludicrous. This Ludicrous trim appears to feature a new spoiler, a ‘Ludicrous’ badge, and an updated wheel design. Leaks prior to this reveal showcased redesigned seats with a sportier appearance, enhanced side support, and a new headrest design.

Anticipation is high for the official order availability of the Model 3 Ludicrous. It is hoped that Tesla will streamline its production process for this model, addressing recent challenges faced with the Rear-Wheel-Drive and Long Range versions. Additionally, there’s hope that the Ludicrous trim will be eligible for the $7,500 point of sale credit, especially since the newly updated Model 3’s are currently not qualifying.
