Today, March 21st, marks an exciting development in the realm of EV charging infrastructure globally. EV Point has just deployed the world’s first non-Tesla branded V4 Superchargers in the United Kingdom. Historically, Tesla’s Supercharger equipment was solely integrated within Tesla’s own Supercharger network.

However, in a move that caught the industry by surprise, Tesla ventured into the role of a charging equipment provider. This strategic shift was first announced in an agreement last year, where Tesla committed to supply BP with $100 million worth of charging infrastructure to bolster BP’s Pulse network expansion across the US.

Not long after, a similar agreement with EG Group was announced, and the results of Tesla’s agreement with them are now being witnessed in the UK. EV Point took to X (formerly Twitter) to announce the deployment of their first 10-stall non-Tesla Supercharger station, located at the Asda Express in Uttoxeter, UK.

Though specifics of the agreement with EG Group remain mostly unknown, the company has expressed its commitment to deploy over 20,000 EV chargers across EG Group’s extensive network of more than 6,000 fuel and convenience store locations. The adoption of Tesla’s supercharging hardware, known for its reliability, not only promises a reduction in maintenance costs for EG Group compared to other providers but also ensures a smoother charging experience for consumers, mitigating the frustration of encountering out-of-service stations.

The integration of Tesla’s proven charging equipment across multiple networks could be a big leap forward for the EV charging ecosystem worldwide, enhancing overall reliability. We hope this development encourages other companies to incorporate Tesla’s supercharging equipment within their networks, aiming for a seamless and dependable charging experience for EV drivers worldwide.
